ABC Family’s Switched at Birth has a storyline going about birthfather rights. Angelo (played by Gilles Marini) learned that his one-night stand resulted in a pregnancy when the mother told him about it in her third trimester. As a graduate student, she did not want to parent the child, but Angelo did. So, after the baby was born, the woman checked out of the hospital early and placed the baby for adoption without his consent. Angelo has been looking for the baby ever since.
In last night’s episode, Angelo located his four-month-old baby and met the adoptive parents, a homosexual couple who had been waiting a long time to adopt a baby. Angelo is determined to take custody of his daughter. Meanwhile, Angelo’s 16-year-old birth daughter, Bay (Vanessa Marano), who came along to meet her half-sister, saw how secure the baby was in her adoptive home and suggested that perhaps the baby is better off where she is.
